Oh darn. I actually passed the first round of choir auditions despite the disastrous melodic memory thingy I had to do. Makes me wonder why I signed up for it since I've been spending the last 12 years trying to escape choir teachers... ack. There goes my voice, holidays, evenings off and common sense.

Fencing training today was such a killer... my legs hurt after being in "on-guard" position for a good part of 2 hours. And my neck and shoulders are so stiff... oh dear I just realised that if I get into choir, then I'll have to miss fencing *sigh* oh well... I got no money to buy the lame and the suit anyway... 300 bucks ^^|| And I can always join next time... got long long loooong 4 years ahead to try everything slowly.

I don't care if my lecturer ever reads this. He is damn super egoistic and I'd probably be better off just reading the textbook on my own because he spends most of class time telling us his wonderful fascinating life story, which is so fun it's not. And in excruciating detail too. There's another one who makes us read some of the academic papers that he's written, which isn't as bad since it's actually relevant to the course. Like why would I care what you bought for your wife, or how much it cost? And why do it need to know about how you had no life during your university days because you spent it mugging and going for summer school? Totally nutters.

The Media Resource library sucks. It doesn't have the Bach sarabande I want and no movies to watch. False advertising! At least nobody hogs the comps around here, and there's aircon, which is more than I can say for my room.

Ought to go for fencing class... ^^ will go get some work done before I go try to poke someone's eye out.

Long time never post... ^^ quite busy with school work... only third day of school and I already feel so stressed. Man... at least tomorrow only got one lesson, even if it's all the way over at North Spine. Time to catch up on readings...

Anyway. Found 2 ex sec classmates staying on the same floor as me. Even though I wasn't like super super close to them, but they're very nice girls and easy to talk to. Someone else I know is in both Akido and Fencing (can't believe I'm joining so many... will have every evening just training, at this rate.) Also, I conclude that this place is over-run with VJC pple. Or I just have incredible luck and keep bumping into all of them.

And as a parting shot before I go on to do my readings and post a random quiz result... SIA SUCKS!!!!!!!!

Went to Claire's place for Writers' Circle bbq... thanks for having us over! Basically it was me, Claire (duh), Chris, Ann, Serene, Allen and David... Jon couldn't make it cos he's at the NDP rehearsal and Mark cancelled last minute *frowns* It's one of my major peeves... pple who are late, and conveniently forget to inform me they're not coming anyway until I've been waiting for them for half an hour. Luckily for Mark, I'll be angry for a grand total of about 3 minutes, otherwise I'd have throttled him to death. Or possibly cut his heart out with a spoon. Bought way too much food, and for desert we had Allen's amazing white-choc strawberry cheesecake. Fwoah. And yes, it tasted as good as it sounds =D (I've never seen a guy bake before... so bowled over by it.) Then we wrote trashy fics as traditional of every Writers' Circle meeting, one of which involved Darth Vader serenading Luke Skywalker and reduced all of us to tears of mirth because it was so nonsensical *grin*

Home at last... no more keying in stupid passwords to go to the toilet, yes! And also got fridge *hugs fridge possesively*

This week was a little too busy for my taste after that 7 months of slacking... and so far I've basically done nothing except watch Tombraider 2 (which was so super boring I fell asleep halfway thru it), spend way too much money, and sign up for more CCAs than I could possibly handle. I feel so out of touch with the hall people because basically I dun spend much time there, and when I'm there I'm holed up in my room on the Net. I didn't even realise Peck Chia from AHS was in my floor as well... *sigh* Plus I dun like my block (even though I do get to hog the TV lounge... everyone's too busy playing cards) 'cause it's mainly guys. And engineering, nerdy PRC guys at that.

The following weeks are going to be even more expensive and packed with activities, some of which I want no part of at all. Bloody hell... On happier note, I joined some silly CCAs for the heck of it, like fencing ^^ it just looks so cool when AR or Lex Luther does it *swoon*

My roommate went home for 2 days now I have the room to myself, muah ha ha ha ha...

Explored North Spine of NTU today.... very big ^^; but I have some lectures there. Also, two of the three libraries in this place are there... and not knowing where they are is not a Good Thing. Tomorrow have to go for Flag Day and act chirpy... sigh... the things I do to gain a few miserable points and get my 6 hours community service over and done with for this year. Not that it's compulsory to do the 6 hours now at uni level, but since I dun buy flags at all, it makes me feel sorta charitable, for the day.

Finally met my elusive roommate (actually I was probably equally elusive ^^;) Quite nice girl, same course as me and same tutorial groups too! Although she's got a bible on her shelf and listens to Backstreet Boys *weeps* I foresee some problems there. Also went out for a while with some OG ppl after the welcome ceremony... was actually rather amused that we had to wear these robe thingys as freshmen for the ceremony. Except that the robes were kinda navy blue and looked more McGonagall-like than student-like, but still has a Hogwarts kinda feel. Plus turns out Siying from A54 is in NTU too... biz fac.

Kinda sad to find out that orchard road seems so very bloody far now... went there for a while come back want to die already. The commute is really killing me, and singapore isn't even that big!

Am back. Award ceremony was mostly silly, but was fun taking photos with David and Chris afterwards. Then we snuck into the staff room to look for Harris... cheap thrill ^_^; And we made him take a photo with us while he made sarky comments to the poor girl he trapped to be the photographer. I'm going to miss his evilness *wicked grin* Too bad those adorable children of his didn't come along to school... one look at them, and another look at their dad, and you wonder how in the world that happened (just kidding Mr Harris =P)

Anyway I have to go for College Day today...to get an award for slacking. *fidgets and tugs at collar of shirt* I hate having to wear all this formal stuff. Would it them kill to let us turn up in T-shirts and tank tops? Huh? Would it? Ahem. Sorry, stupid rules always get me slightly psychotic. I wonder if my poor secretaries ZhengRu and JianYu are getting service awards too... heh heh... they so poor thing, always get stuff dumped on them and get abused and bullied by me.

Hm... I wonder if there's any place at all in Singapore that has the VCD or DVD of The Search for John Gissing for rent... anyway I saw the trailer for Pirates of the Carribean. Orlando Bloom looks ugly in there, ha! No wait, what am I talking about... he is ugly. *smirk* But Johnny Depp looks pretty amusing in that getup... plus all the stuff about cursed coins and undead pirates sounds interesting.

And I finally found that poem Colonel Brandon read to Marianne in Sense & Sensibility. It's from "The Faerie Queen"(Book V), by Edmund Spenser.

Had my piano exam today... hm. The pieces should be quite ok though I made a few mistakes with the first piece... the scales staccato were crap but luckily the examiner (a Scottish lady with the surname McLeod and who looks like Professor McGonagall) was very nice and only asked me for 3. Arpeggios... I flubbed the first one. But the sight reading was COMPLETE. AND. UTTER CRAP. I was playing random notes in random pulse with random articulation and random flats for most of the piece, then the last 2 lines were ok. Sure fail one. Aural... with luck will pass lar. Though I said the piece modulated to dominant, then the examiner was like "Hm, su- never mind, now for the next section..." *sweatdrop* And I got the treble portion mixed up with the bass, so I sang half treble and half bass *big sweatdrop*

Now just hope that overall can pass lar... *cross fingers, toes, hair...*

Argh, Mae left on Saturday and I didn't even know... *apologises profusely* I kept thinking you were leaving on the 22nd... blur me. Anyway hope it was a nice trip and you have no probs settling in.

Was supposed to go for Hall camp (er... okay, a few milliseconds of it) but I didn't go after all 'cause it was so silly to travel 2 hours there, say hi, then take 2 hours to come back again. And speaking of my piano exam... *sigh* it's on Thursday, and everything just seems to screwed up.

Then there's my parents... man if this is their reaction when I'm just going to be on the other side of Singapore, I can't imagine what they'd have done if I had gotten the scholarship and went off to Wales. It's very nice of them, but... Makes me think of the song Giles sang in the Buffy musical... well the idea is somewhat different, but anyway...

Youre not ready for the world outside
You keep pretending but you just cant hide
I know I said that Id be standing by your side
But I

Your paths unbeaten and its all uphill
And you can meet it but you never will
And Im the reason that youre standing still
But I

I wish that I could say the right words
To lead you through this land
Wish I could play the father
And take you by the hand
Wish I could stay here
But now I understand
Im standing in the way

The cries around you, you dont hear at all
Cause you know Im here to take that call
So you just lie there when you should be standing tall
But I

I wish I could lay
Your arms down and let you rest at last
Wish I could slay
Your demons, but now that time is past
Wish I could stay here,
Your stalwart standing fast
But Im standing in the way
Im just standing in the way

Christmas
by Goran Simic

I'm blind, I say
I don't speak again for a very long time
Of course I'm lying about being blind

If I look out of the window to where the children are singing carols
I see how the snow seems to fetch a rainbow
I see frozen songbirds fall from the branches
I see a butcher haul a slaughtered lamb down the street

It is night
An icon burns in the stove
There's a seamless drone from the airport that makes me want to weep

I'm blind, I say
I'm blind

She doesn't say a word
She beats the devil's tattoo on the tabletop

I've forgotten, I whisper
I don't speak again for a very long time
Of course I'm lying about having forgotten

I think back to hoofprints in the snow and dogs on a leash
It was a manhunt

I remember my father laughed when I barked at the birds

Have you ever noticed how a vacuum cleaner sounds like a plane in takeoff?
Or how a TV left on too long will fix a room with a hot and heavy smell?

Have you noticed the depth of frost?, I ask her
Have you noticed this incredible frost
at all?

She's got nothing to say for herself
She might not have heard

I won't speak again
I'll sit here and watch the traffic lights adapting endlessly
to whatever's best

That's me
I'm just like that

The whole universe buzzes above the control tower
Isn't that strange?
Fish in the depths are strange
the way they live
The smell of hay in an orchard is too strange for words

Now and then, someone winks from the bottle
The genie, the perk
of plum brandy

Can you see me?, I ask
Can you see any jot of me, any tittle?

She nods
But of course she's lying

As if I cared
As if she could understand the half of what I say

Finished clearing up my hostel room yesterday. The yellow colour scheme is warm n cheery, but kinda... er... too bright. And the hall crest has a winged lion, so very Gryffindor. Plus my wing is called "Melrose" *disgusted* what a girly name!

After that went out with some of the pple from Artemis... a lot of time spent unproductively sitting around and playing stupid games. This is the life man... *grin* Mucho thanks to Yanru for organising it! Too bad only a few of us turned up... me n Yanru, Michele, Bev, Kailing, Daniel, Adrian n Marcus. And none of the seniors were free *mopes* Ah well there's always next time...

And I found senior MunPong's blog! I felt so bad about not really remembering his name during FOC because he could remember mine... ^_^|| And link-chasing at Shin's blog also led me to Khor Kai's Blog! *glee* Long time no see girl, was wondering what you'd been up to, and now you've got a blog too! *big grin* But what is that poem I wrote doing on your blog? eek! Anyway...Now I've got a tabula.com account too, just so I can comment on KhorKai's blog, heh heh... see it here. I think I shall use it to post random poetry...

Man today my blogger template damn screwed up. *kicks the bloody thing* Anyway, went to clear out my hostel room today... ok lar, quite nice room. And I'm on 3rd floor near the balcony, so got fresh air, not too bad. Was amused by the fact that the girl's washrooms have passwords, like some high security area. Then after having to enter the password about 10 times to get water to clean up the room, am not amused anymore. If my roommate wears her shoes into the room, I will kill her.

And now I'm having a discussion on appreciation of western music with my senior Weimin *waves at Weimin, if you're reading this...* This is damn weird. Never mind. BTW Serry, I've found another person who likes the Moonlight Sonata! *grins*

I can't rem some stuff about it anymore, like pple's names and stuff... also snuck in to listen to Cook's tutorial for a while and enjoy the aircon at LT4 *grin* he looked quite perturbed. And the ickle science fac morons he was teaching kept turning back to look like they had never seen people out of uniform before.

Anyway, went for dinner with Jody after that... she's migrating to Aussie, so I won't get to see her for a long long time... at least we took a lot of photos and there's always email ^^

Just finished this jap sci fic/horror movie..."Another Heaven". The subtitles were a bit wacked sometimes, but it wasn't cringe-worthy like that time when they translated Kindaichi~Shanghai Gyojin Densetsu, so that's ok. Or maybe it's because I wasn't listening to the dubbed chinese track.

Anyway... the story starts with this bunch of police inspectors arrive at the scene of a murder to find a stew brewing on the stove and a lovely flower arrangement on the table. While the rest of the inspectors are happily eating the dead guy's food, the main chara Hayase Manabu checks the body and finds that it's missing a brain. And guess where the brain ended up? After everybody's done doing their accidental Hannibal Lecter thing, there's another murder and they find their suspect very dead and without much of a brain left. basically it's like one episode in "Angel" where the demon goes body hopping. And it seems that the thing has taken a liking to Hayase and keeps leaving er..."presents" for him...

Was so surprised to see Kashiwabara Takashi in that show...man what's a cute guy like him doing acting as a psycho? A psycho who bloody kissed Eguchi Yosuke at that. And there was this really crappy part of the show where this girl tells her guy victim that when the person has bad thoughts you can see it in the hair... with regards to the Ratalies, I wonder what's gonna happen to the lot of us then *grin*

I find the weirdest links. Anyway... there's this cartoon called "King of the Hill" and AR did a cameo on it as King Philip Motzinger a while back. There is this part where he goes "How now gas man." (think The Avengers... apparently he was supposed to be in that movie but he turned the offer down) And then, for some strange reason, he started speaking with a Texas accent. You can hear it here.

Palmistry thingy from here:

You have a good imagination, and often exhibit sensitivity to others.

There is a tremendous amount of intensity in your mental processes. Your ability to concentrate is excellent. At times you have the ability to focus your mind so strongly that the rest of the world is shut out.

You have so many interests that you may have trouble deciding which ones to pursue. This can make you seem very contradictory, since you are so passionate and sincere about each new idea you embrace.

There may be times in your life when you give in to feelings of sadness or depression.
(me, depressed?!)

You have the ability to detach your emotions from a situation and make objective decisions.

Your personality is dynamic and attractive to most people. The more branches you find in your heart line, the more friends and lovers you will have. However, you may be tempted to treat the opposite sex unkindly.
(*thinks back to ice breaker games played during SCI FOC at Raffles Marina... especially the "ouch obit obit" thing.... ^_^||* poor whoever it was that sat next to me, heh heh...and damn I can't even remember the poor guy's name)

You are naturally charming and inclined to be flirtatious.

Your high energy level draws people to you.
(right.... high energy level my ass)

You have a basically strong constitution, and should enjoy good health most of the time.

You are likely to make many changes in the direction of your life. This may be based on interruptions due to health problems, or it may be that you just have trouble focusing your energy.

There is a strong intuitive side to your nature, which may border on psychic or mystical ability.
(*chokes*)

Gods I was such a klutz today... I kept bumping into or tripping over everything. *twacks self*

Anyway, got that truly ugly orange thing that is my matric card today (and no Adrian, I did not find it particularly worth admiring). And I went to check out the hall and got "coherced" into joining the hall orientation =P And since my exam is in the mid of the camp, I'm going to do my famous disappearing-act thing again ^_^|| Behold, the great Snape-ini! *ahem* Excuse that brief bout of insanity. As I was saying.... there's a piano in one of the blocks, but the touch is way too light compared to my teacher's grand, so it isn't much use really. I might even be better off practicing on a comp keyboard.

Will be collecting my keys sooner than I expected I think... since the seniors said everyone will be rushing to do it before the mayhem that is orientation starts, on the 12th. Which means I should collect it on the 11th to miss the crowd... which really doesn't make much sense either because everyone else would have thought of that as well. Oh heck. See, this is my just deserts for slacking for half a year... now when something happens, it happens all at once, like some great booming voice from the cosmos going "Get off your ass and stop slacking!"... and I'm blabbering now and I should just shut up and go do something productive.

Think Lord Felton but with other ppl grovelling around him instead of the other way round *grin* There's also one really adorable bespectacled kid (I suppose he's Michael. or is he one of the Lost Boys?) who says very haughtily to one of the pirates, "English gentlemen do not beg"...so cute!
